"Woo."
The Grand Panjandrum by Ergo Phizmiz ft. Depresstival is a blown out, darkly funny pop punk epic that perfectly skewers the idiocy of modern life. Relentlessly catchy, pointed songs call out Holocaust deniers, internet addicts, and antivaxxers, among other things, while songs like the guinea pig inspired "Mr. Suet" take a turn for the absurd. These 20 tracks constantly surprise, and make as much room for punk as it does electronic pop, with Ergo Phizmiz trying on many sonic guises and nailing every one with charm and aplomb. "Winter Carousel 2019" is an absolutely stunning song about a pandemic, but eerily enough, it was written before the actual pandemic uprooted all of our lives. Learn a Spanish phrase with the hilarious, catchy "Green Screen Baby" or take the aggressive title track for a spin, with its appropriately twisted sounding "Blow the Man Down" riff. The epic "Disco(rd)" nods back to the super pop (non-stop) of Elmyr, Ergo Phizmiz' previous album. No matter which track you play, you're sure to get it stuck in your head, and there's not a dud here on...
